These four cornerstones guide everything we do at CIFAL Miami Center: prepare for emergencies, restore and protect our environment, drive sustainable development, and empower civil-society and private-sector actors to create lasting impact.

Emergency Preparedness

Ensure that an organization (mainly airports, ports, governments, businesses), community, or individual are ready to respond effectively to emergencies, disasters, and unforeseen events, to minimize the impact of such events on people, property, and the environment.

 

CIFAL Miami Center will mainly address: Planning, Resource Management, Training and Exercises, Communication and Information Management, Community Involvement, and Infrastructure Protection and Resilience.

Special Initiative with C-PREP

Special Initiative with C-PREP

 

The Community Port Resiliency Program (C-PReP) is a flagship Outreach Aid to the Americas initiative delivered in partnership with CIFAL Miami. It focuses on strengthening the ability of airports, seaports and their surrounding communities throughout the Caribbean and Latin America to withstand and quickly recover from both natural disasters and human-made emergencies.

C-PReP offers tailored guidance, training workshops and peer-learning exchanges. These resources equip local stakeholders with the planning tools, operational protocols and strategic insights needed to anticipate risks, minimize disruptions and enhance long-term resilience.

Environmental Resilience

Contribute to enhance the ability of natural and human-made systems to withstand, adapt to, and recover from environmental stressors and shocks, including natural disasters, climate change, pollution, habitat destruction, and other anthropogenic impacts. This will aim to maintain ecosystems functionality, biodiversity, and human well-being in the face of these challenges. 

 

CIFAL Miami Center will mainly address: Climate Change, Technologies and Resilience, Environment and Global Health, and Water Management.

Sustainable Development

Furthering the knowledge, understanding, and advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the 17 interconnected goals adopted by all UN member countries in 2015, to achieve a balance among People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership by 2030. 

 

CIFAL Miami Center will mainly address: Raising Awareness and Educating the Public and Promoting Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration around the SDGs.

Social Empowerment

Equipping individuals and communities with the skills, resources, and knowledge to make informed decisions, improve their lives, and participate actively in society. The main emphasis of CIFAL Miami will be social empowerment as it relates to human trafficking. Considering that human trafficking preys on those who lack knowledge, opportunity, and a strong support system. Social empowerment acts as a powerful shield against this human trafficking, as it helps protects potential victims and enables survivors to strive.

 

CIFAL Miami Center will mainly address: Prevention (Education, Information, and Awareness), Managing the provision of Protection, Rehabilitation and Reintegration initiatives, and supporting Advocacy and Policy efforts.
